NPSI2022 Highlights: Washington, DC May 6 - 8, 2022

Students had the opportunity to learn from and interact with these industry influencers, as well as additional industry thought-leaders throughout the competition weekend. Guest appearances included Award Winning Pastry Chef Paola Velez, named Pastry Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington and Esquire Magazine; Food & Wines Best Chef in 2021; and a Finalist for the James Beard Rising Star award, Nolan Williams, Jr, Creator/Producer of "Grace - A New Musical Feast", and Carla Hall, TV Personality and "Grace" Ambassador.

What Happens Next in DC? An excited group of students from Ballou High School (Ward 8) who competed at NPSI 2022 and had the opportunity to experience the event first-hand and know what it's like to compete at the National ProStart Student Invitational, will now go back and share this awesome experience with their fellow classmates.  While Washington DC only had the team from Ballou High School compete this year, we hope to have Theodore Roosevelt High School, and Roosevelt STAY (Ward 4) join Ballou High to compete next year at NPSI 2023.  Additionally, we continue to spread the word about the program and work to expand the program in more schools in the District.
